Hosting an FAC
Hosting an FAC is easy! Pick a date and we’ll walk you through every step.
We have 4 open FACs for Spring 2018: March 16, March 23, April 13, May 4
Friday Afternoon Clubs (FACs) are dynamic evenings of culture, food, and community. International student organizations get the opportunity to showcase their culture in whatever way they wish — through dance, song, food, crafts, holiday celebrations, demonstrations, or the classic power-point presentation.
The impact is big — the CSU campus will come away with a better appreciation of your home culture — and the investment is small: 2 weeks of planning and no cost to your club. (ISSS offers up to $300 budget for clubs to purchase food, decorations and more. See suggested timeline below.)
2 weeks before: gather 5 to 15 helpers from your student group to help the night of the event–for set up, clean up, and presentations
1 week before: one person will complete a 60 minute walk-through of the space with interactive instructions from the ISSS Program Coordinator
3 hours before: start setting up (we provide tables, chairs, projector & screen, plates, utensils, etc)
6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.: share your culture with the attendees of FAC!
7:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. (or when finished): tear down chairs, wash dishes, take out trash & say goodnight!
Past themes: Kuwaiti Night, India Night, Iranian New Year, Hawaian Luau, Indonesia Martial Arts, Palestinian Night, German Oktoberfest, Turkish Night, Mardi Gras, etc.
